Abstract

This research examines the impact of U.S. immigration policies on the dynamics of immigrant families, the study explores how changes in immigration policy influence family structures, economic stability, psychological well-being, and social integration among immigrant populations.

Key findings reveal that stable and clear immigration policies enhance educational and employment outcomes for immigrants, contributing to economic stability and upward mobility. It allows for observing the evolution of family dynamics and adaptation strategies under changing legal landscapes. Provides a snapshot of current conditions and experiences across different immigrant communities, enabling a comparison of impacts across various demographic and socio-economic groups. Provides annual updates on a wide range of demographic, social, economic, and housing characteristics. This data will be instrumental in analyzing shifts in immigrant family structures, employment patterns, and housing stability. Using data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health, the study will help track the physical and emotional health of a cohort over time, which will be used to assess the long-term impacts of immigration policies on psychological well-being and social integration. Targeted interviews will be conducted with families from diverse immigration backgrounds, including undocumented individuals, permanent residents, and naturalized citizens, to understand the varied impacts across different statuses. Detailed examinations of instances, such as families undergoing deportation proceedings or benefiting from DACA, will illustrate specific policy impacts in real-life contexts.Utilization of existing datasets from ACS and Add Health, focusing on immigrant populations to extract relevant variables.
