The more immigrants that come to America, legal or illegal, the more competition there is in the job market. Unemployed Americans would have more job opportunities if there was less competition. Studies by economist George J. Borjas and Christopher Smith have shown that immigration reduces the employment of less educated black men and United States teenagers. In spite of these statistics, many members of Congress and President Obama support immigration. The government is giving work permits to illegal immigrants and increasing legal immigration even further. These work permits allow any immigrant to work and compete for jobs. With immigration rates increasing, the search for a job will only get more
