From 1920-1926 the amount of foreigners crossing the border increased rapidly. The statistics show that there is a great amount of immigrants from Great Britain, Eastern Europe, and Italy that immigrated to the states. Although the numbers decreased slightly, there is still a constant rate of people. 25,528 immigrants came from Great Britain, 1,596 from Eastern Europe, and finally, 8,253 people came from Italy into America (Census 3). By 1926 there were approximately 304,488 newcomers altogether (Census .3). In the 1900s, America had a population of over 100 million, and an additional 300,000 immigrants who enlarged its population. Many people feel as though this is a negative aspect because the immigrants were filling up space in America without helping economically or financially. The settlers were irrelevant to the country's success therefore, America should not allow them to cross the border. The foreigners that came to the country, took up valuable space and stole job opportunities from hard working Natives. America becoming overpopulated is not a far fetched worry and may become a fatal issue. Italy was overcome with immigrants and the economy could not keep up. Every year many immigrants desire to be Americans because of the pull factors such as the economy and jobs in the US. The settlers pose an issue in the aspect of terrorism. Also, many terrorist attacks have been initiated by other ethnicities, such as the 911 attack that took place in New York. Another reason why immigrants shall not be permitted in the country is because the newcomers are overpopulating America. The U.S will consist of unhelpful people who know nothing to improve all aspects of the country. Overall, the Immigration Act is an efficient law because the Act prevents others from entering the country and affecting the safety and population of America.
