He wakes up only to find that 7 years have passed since that day provoking the audience to wonder what had just happened as it is rare to see a show suddenly jump 7 years into the future and seemingly the character has had a life in that time waking up after a bout with amnesia. As said by J.J Abrams, “...I find myself drawn to infinite possibility, that sense of potential.And I realize that mystery is the catalyst for imagination.” (5:17), and as a young child I had a very vivid imagination now imagine a young child, trying to figure out what had happened in those 7 years and why a show would skip 7 years as that was unheard of in the world of media. This mystery, and wonder as explained by J.J. Abrams is ever present in (this show) and especially this episode. In which we would later figure out that, in fact the character was being manipulated by a child who wanted someone a father figure as the child was lonely only able to play with the large holodeck, which I would have never guessed I was astonished and surprised at the sudden twist.
