During my work experience at Rebecca Cheetham Nursery and Children’s Centre, I was working with children aged two years old. Inclusive practice is successfully implemented in the nursery because children was doing group activities and was communicating with each other which helps them make friends and feel included in activities. Rebecca Cheetham Nursery also have colourful rooms which creates a beautiful welcoming environment as children love bright colours and helps children to take part in indoor activities because children stay inside for longer hours. The nursery actively seeks to remove the barriers to learning and participation that can exclude individual children, or groups of children.
Inclusive practice is successfully implemented in Rebecca Cheetham nursery because all children knew their routines such as wearing coat before going out, washing their hands before eating and pulling their sleeves up before washing hands. The practitioners also provided a safe environment for all children because the door was opened from top to prevent children from opening them, the nursery also have sand timers so all children can have turns and don’t snatch or fight for equipment’s.
To support children practitioners also work as partners with parents/carers are invited to meetings and their views are valued and recorded to support needs of children. Rebecca Cheetham nursery plans both indoor and outdoor play, which helps children learn with enjoyment and challenges. While playing, children behave in different ways because sometimes they will describe and discuss what they are doing and sometimes they will be quiet and reflective as they play. In a safe and secure environment with adult support, children can take risks and make mistakes, think creatively, communicate with others as they investigate or solve problems, explore, develop and represent learning experiences that help them make sense of the
