Talbot gave artists the ability to make visual records of how things were. Artists like Courbet, Daumier, Eakins and Homer used these technologies to show how things were in everyday life, by simply taking pictures of everything from the enjoyments of life to the struggles of life, they were able to leave as a stronger sense of how things were. This new technology was also of great use for recording images of architecture as well as people and places. These photos show the use of cast iron in structures from the nineteenth century. Through the use of realism in music in the late nineteenth century the opera began to focus more about everyday struggles, rather than the romantic heroism they once focused on. Composers like Giacomo Puccini showed these struggles in operas like La Boheme and Madam Butterfly. In conclusion realism left us with a better understanding of how things really were.
