He had a spinal injury, and he was constantly in excruciating pain. I was just an observer, unable to do anything that could alleviate any of this pain. He would lay there unable to stop the rolling waves, and I could do nothing but watch him, and wait for the pain to pass. As it began getting worse and worse, the doctors stepped up. They suggested surgery, and that seemed like the logical and immediate solution to his pain. The doctors were able to make him better, and restore him to the person he was before. He looked no worse, and he sounded no different, and it was only thanks to the doctors. However, people in other places do not access to an equal level of healthcare. His hardworking attitude allows me to see that he is determined for the overall success of the family, and providing for us. He goes to work, with the intention of coming home when the job is done, and not before. These are all values that I would like to adopt, and integrate into my life.
