The most important cause of the Protestant Reformation would be that many people found church methods, such as the sale of indulgence improper. John Tetzel, a monk, who sold false indulgences for Pope Leo X. The selling of false indulgences in Germany, led to the Martin Luther questioning the Catholic church's direction. He wrote the 95 theses about how the church has lost their way and has become greedy instead. Luther believed the only way to salvation was faith, that everyone is equal in the view of God, and the bible was the final authority, not the pope/priests. After the 95 theses were posted the king and pope tried to excommunicate Luther, but because Germany had such a weak central government they couldn’t actually go through this. While Luther was in hiding he used, Johann Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press and made the bible vernacular, which allowed everyone to be able to read it themselves. The bible turning vernacular limited the pope's authority so people weren't getting cheated. This also helped people because now they could learn what God had intended for everyone and not what the pope wanted people to believe in.The priests didn't know what the people wanted so he couldn’t help them as much as he could later on. I can see how some people could say it was negative because Calvinism was made which led to a strict and lawful place to be, almost like a dictator like.Many could also debate with saying that it leads to inquisition coming up again which led to many deaths and the witch
