As an Integrative Functional Pharmacist, I am passionate about helping my profession define its niche in Integrative Health. The current image of the local pharmacy who sells supplements is outdated and does not include the scope of skills an integrative pharmacist can bring to the table. My own eclectic experience and education in Nutrition and Western Herbal Medicine provides me with insights into how different explanatory models of illness and disease can work collaboratively to provide patients with a more wholistic form of care. Although most of my career has focused on my clinical practice both as a health systems pharmacist and a transitional care practitioner, my true passion has always been teaching.

With a few improvements in specific areas, the course can easily meet all QM standards.” Since working as part of the faculty at Maryland University of Integrative Health, I have also developed core courses in career development for the Masters in Herbal Medicine students who are pursuing the Herbal Product Design tract. These included the introduction of ePortfolio as a metacognitive tool for our students.
This past academic year (2017), the students in the Herbal Medicine department awarded me the Great Esteem award. This award recognizes faculty with outstanding commitment to students’ excellence throughout their program of study. It also reflects the important qualities and virtues of an instructor who made extraordinary contributions toward students’ learning.
As an educator and life-long learner, I am seeking to hone my teaching skills to advance the work of Integrative Health. I expect to apply this degree not only as faculty at the graduate level, but also to provide continuing education to pharmacists and other health practitioners with the goal of improving patient health through better integration and collaboration through evidence based

In addition to this I regularly attend the faculty journal club and am working collaboratively in pursuing publication. As I move toward pursuing my own advanced studies I will be holding off on future course designing and taking this time for my own course work. It is also important to consider not just my professional commitments but my own self care and life balance as well when embarking on graduate level studies. This is an ideal time in my life to focus on this self-improvement with limited family
