According to Erikson’s sixth developmental stage, Intimacy versus isolation is experienced during early adulthood years. At this period young adult encounter the developmental responsibility of forming intimate relationships. A healthy friendship and an intimate relationship with a partner bring intimacy, whereas isolation is a result of not forming an intimate relationship. Adolescence wants to experience a long-lasting relationship that involves more concern and compassionate than the causal socializing or friendship they have known before. They want to form a relationship at least for a while to experience what a more serious association is like. The success or failure of student’s relationship will definitely affect their academic performance, mental health, and life satisfaction. Intimacy versus isolation stage is a critical time for concentration with developing intimate relationships. The establishment of a compatible and coherent identity will enable the young adult’s progress to unite their identity. This will bring a dedicated and emotionally close relationship with each other. The fundamental challenges at this stage of psychological development incorporate maintaining a good decision that is made of careful thought while connecting with the other partner, developing a mutuality of emotional involvement and understanding and committing in a non-self-defeating way to necessary work, compromise, and sacrifice entailed in an ongoing relationship.
