Choose a Multinational Enterprise (MNE) company that has its headquarters in your country (or continent) of origin. This MNE should have foreign direct investment (FDI) activities in Asia. You are asked to prepare a report of the strategies and activities of this MNE in Asia evaluating the environment of the Asian region; with the main focus of the analysis on the last decade (since 2004). The attractiveness of Asia as an investment destination is very strong especially during the last decades. In case your country of origin is from Asia (e.g. China), your selected MNE should have FDI activities in other Asian countries too (e.g. India, Malaysia, Indonesia etc.), i.e. not only activities in your own country of origin.

Please collect as much secondary data as possible on your selected firm. There is no restriction on the industry (services or manufacturing) or size of the MNE; or the Asian country(ies) that it has invested. For large diversified firms, it is advisable to choose one product line or business of the firm. It is expected that the report will draw only on the analysis of secondary data; but in case you have some prior personal knowledge of the firm, it is welcome to input it in your report. However, please note that no interviews with the firm management are needed.

An executive one-page summary containing the major points of the essay should be the opening section of the whole report covering the following points:
a. Strategies/ activities of the MNE in Asia during the last decade
1. What were the main reasons of attraction into Asia, and which were the motivations for FDI for the firm concerned. The motivations should follow the MNE categories proposed by Dunning (1993) i.e. resource seeking, market-seeking MNEs etc. (or by
