Beginning in Act three scene two, Hamlet starts to make obscene gestures at Ophelia treating her like the as if nothing had ever happened. Again during the play, Hamlet ask his mother, “Madam, how like you this play?” And she responds, “The lady doth protest too much methinks” (3.2.222-223). He writes The Murder of Gonzago in direct correlation to the information given to him by his dead father's ghost. The play was a safe way to find out if Claudius did indeed kill King Hamlet. Martha Oberle provides greater insight into the moments of insanity Hamlet displays by the play. She says, “Hamlet tests the Ghost's accusation, his words, by means of the words of the play, even as Claudius' guilt or innocence depends on his reaction to the action on the stage” (par. 1). Claudius sits in the chair watching the scene unfold, while everyone finds out the horror that has just occurred. Soon after the play, Gertrude finds out for the first time what happened to her late husband, King Hamlet, and how Claudius brutally murders his brother. Hamlet has intentionally written this play to show Claudius that he knows what evil he has committed. Hamlet shows no remorse for the hurt that he brings upon the people around him. Madness runs through his veins as hurtful words spew from his mouth like blood from a
