Through the poem, we can see that Sir Gawain lives in a society that has order and most importantly considers Christianity important. To be exact the code of “chivalry and courtly love” and obeying the religious beliefs is what made you have honor. We see this in lines (49-50), “With all the wonder in the world they gather there as one: the most chivalrous and courteous knights known to Christendom...”. When Green Knight questions the king’s reputation with a challenge he is brave enough to requests that he be allowed to take the challenge himself. In lines (358-360) we see his bravery, “Such a foolish affair is unfitting for a king, so; being first to come forward, it should fall to me. And if my proposal is improper, let no other person stand blame.” Also, he keeps his word of going to find him after a year and get a blown as promised. The way he rejects the women trying to seduce him and having manner show his great manner as a man. Through the poem, we see that Sir Gawain to become a hero or seem as good he has to follow the chivalry
