I have attended five courses on personal effectiveness domain during my first and second year of my PhD study. This domain highlighted research skills that required a PhD student to have the ability to learn with creativity and innovation and have high self-discipline. As an independent learner, the PhD student must have flexibility and open-mindless in order to manage the time and getting prepared to the career development.

For this domain, a range of blended learning courses that combine the preparation for a PhD world to the time management and psychological resilience and finally applied in the engagement activities with other PhD students which have been exclusively mapped. The module comprised of the general information about the Research Development Programme in University of Strathclyde, how to get start with checklist and sources of support from the university and department, how to plan meeting with the Supervisor and interactive quiz to test understanding of the module. I attended one-day course on time management, resilience for researcher and planning professional development as a researcher. The time management class has highlighted the work of Edward de Bono by prioritising task to manage the time, which include plus, minus and interesting components. This also helps me to plan my PhD to finish by time. Both of resilience and professional development classes have aided me getting started on my PhD project. I also attended the 3-day course of GRADSchool in Glasgow Caledonian University. This short course had given me insight into research skills and abilities that I have to improve for my PhD.
