A review of J.D. Salinger’s Personal Notes of an Infantryman
For the Unit 6 Discussion Assignment, I choose the short story, Personal Notes of an Infantryman, written by Jerome David Salinger and published by Colliers magazine in 1942. At 1255 words, I am not sure purists would allow this story to be called flash fiction, but the story contains all the other elements of this writing style. It is dialog driven, centers around one location, focuses on two primary characters, contains conflict and resolution; and has a surprise ending.
