Aaron Kosminski, Walter Sickert, Montague John Druitt, and Prince Eddy were all conceivable suspects. However, they could not have been Jack the Ripper due to the lack of evidence against them. Some of these men did not fit the eyewitness descriptions of Jack the Ripper, others could not have been present at the scene of the crimes when they were committed, and others did not posses any anatomical knowledge to make the necessary cuts the Ripper made. James Maybrick was, in fact, Jack the Ripper. Maybrick became addicted to drugs that ultimately resulted in him committing the murders, and he was known to be involved with different women. A diary was found and underwent many tests to prove it was indeed his, along with a watch inscribed with his name and the initials of his five victims. Regardless of the many suspects and arguments that surfaced, police were never able to put a name to the brutal killer.
