My barrier that I am going to be talking about is the struggles I have in school and how I am using determination and persistence to overcome them. I will talk about what Jackie Robinson and I have in common, what we have that’s different with our struggles in our life, how we have overcome our struggles and what I have done to fix the problem I am facing.

I have had a little bit of a hard time in high school my first semester because I have ADHD, which causes me to have trouble concentrating in class sometimes. My mom and I set up a meeting with my teachers to talk about the things we can do for me in my classes to make sure I understand what is going on and get what I need for my classes. We made sure that if I had any trouble I would sit in front of the classroom closer to the teacher, I would take pictures of my assignments and get copies of notes so I could listen to the teacher and not worry about trying to take notes. I want to get my work done on time and have no late assignments. I want to have all A’s and B’s so I will be able to go to college, have a good future with a good home and a good job that i will enjoy

Jackie struggled because he was a black man playing baseball with white men, mine is that I struggle a little in school because my brain is wired differently. My struggle in school is not as bad as Jackie Robinson’s struggle playing baseball with white men. He was called bad names and people treated him poorly. My struggle is just because I have a hard time focusing in school. I do not have anyone calling me names or treating me poorly. Jackie was able to overcome his barriers by using his talent in baseball, which made some whites to start liking him and opened doors for other blacks to play major league baseball. I am still working to overcome my barrier but I am determined to get to college and want to be successful in
