Jackie Robison was the first African-American to play in the Major League of Baseball in the United States. The athletes who participated in the Olympics of 1968 in Mexico City, Tommie Smith and John Carlos both were African-American also. Jackie Robison, Tommie Smith and John Carlos had a tough time to get through being part of these major white only sports. At that time African-American were the most discriminated and treated inhumane by many white people. Apart from the fact, that Jackie Robison, Tommie Smith and John Carlos were all African-American, they all had something in common, human rights. All of these three athletes, fought for what was right, for African-Americans. These men connected to their peers, not only African-American but also whites via sports.
