Baldwin is an amazing writer who tries to put real life situations into a story. He talks about racial activities and sets the story in old times James stories connect to his actual life problems. James Baldwin’s character in Go tell it on the Mountain related to his personal life a lot. About his early life Baldwin had a rough life when growing up because his dad had left. In a article by McGill Sarah Ann it talks about his life and what had happened. Baldwin’s mother had married a man who had beat the kids including Baldwin himself. In the book it talks about how his father is not the best and cheats on his wife. He didnt have alot and it was hard for him because he had problems. He started writing pieces and its what made him express about how he had felt.

In the book “Go tell it on the mountain” the father had been a pastor and not a very good one because he had sinned. John (the main character) also tried to believe in god and find himself.
