James Chadwick attended Manchester High school and later graduated into Manchester University in 1908 While he was studying his PhD, WWI broke out and he was sent to a prison camp. When he got back he continued to study and got his PhD. James graduated the honors school of physics in 1911. He earned a M.sc degree in 1913 and was awarded the 1851 Exhibition scholarship. In Manchester University he worked in Rutherford’s laboratory intolerant the age of 21 in 1912.
James was born in Cheshire England on October 20, 1891. He was born into a poor working class family and could only afford the adequate amount of food. Chadwick discovered this subatomic particle by using a neutron chamber in his experiments. He created a nuclear bomb to use in battle. The government still questioned the outcome of the bomb but Chadwick guaranteed that the bomb would work.
In his spare time, through the 1920s, Chadwick made a variety of attempts in the laboratory to find these neutral particles, but without success. He was, however, increasingly convinced in the existence of a neutral particle- the neutron. Chadwick then did not believe he had discovered a new elementary particle. He believed the neutron to be a complex particle consisting of a proton and an electron. In 1935, James Chadwick received the Nobel Prize in Physics for his discovery of the
