“The writer in me crafts the world, the director conveys the motivations of the inhabitants, the actor actually experiences the adventure living in that world and the editor is in control of how the fabricated world is presented to the audience,” said James Noir, UCF alumnus.

Noir graduated from the UCF film program in May 2013 and has been putting all of his time and energy into his films since.

Every month since last May, Noir has had his films featured in critically-acclaimed film festivals all over Florida.

Noir’s film, “The Art of Villainy” will be screening at the Love Your Shorts Film Festival in Sanford on Sunday, Feb. 14.

“The Art of Villainy” is a supernatural thriller that follows an eerie criminal and the detective who has spent his entire career hunting him down.

“Every place we went, he carried a notebook to write scripts down so he could come home to work with his actors, also known as his neighborhood friends and family members,” Boyle said, “He would get such pleasure from entertaining others.”

While in film school at UCF, Noir wrote, directed, produced, acted in and edited four films of his and had prominent roles in 16 other student films.

Noir’s favorite film that he created is “Super’mance,” which is a science-fiction, romance film about supernatural characters at war.

“We shot it in six days, in which I grew my hair out for a year and went through four haircuts in three days to convey the passage of my character's timeline,” Noir said.

The film made its world premiere at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con International.

“I think even Spielberg would be impressed with the special effects. To me it shows what he is truly capable of creating,” Boyle said.

“Super’mance” has gone on to play at seven festivals and win several awards including Best Escapism Film at the Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival in December
