Janusz Korczak

Janusz Korczak, an educated doctor, author and a director of Jewish Orphanage, known by refusing the Nazis for a sanctuary. This research includes the background of Korczak’s life, his oprohange and the resistance of the Natizes.

Background : Young Korczak:

Janusz Korczak was born with the name Henryk Goldszmit to a Jewish family in 1878/1879 (Language & Literature). He was born and raise in Warsaw . His father, Józef Goldszmit was a successful lawyer and was the main income of the house, although in 1890 he became mentally ill and was sent in to a hospital for six years, and died in 1896,(Stillpoint Family). As a result of the death of Józef Goldszmit, Janusz had to bring money home to his mother, Anna Goldszmit and his sister, Cecylia Gębicka which led him giving private lessons for students when he was only 11 years old (janusz korczak association of canada). Every child has their own rich and complete inner world. He believed childhood is not a period to prepare your for life, is a part of your life and that everyone deserve respect. “Children are not the people of tomorrow, but are people of today.
