The feudal system started off with a lord often called daimyo. The daimyo was the head of this clan who had been given or had acquired the right to govern territory within Japan.His samurai were the warriors that had pledged to serve him or the clan throughout their life. Often when the lord died several of his samurai would commit suicide to join him in the next life. The samurai code known as bushido was a complex code similar to the european knights code of chivalry.
