Jefferson Davis was born June 3, 1808 in Christian County, Kentucky which was renamed Todd County. There, he attended a Catholic Seminary. Still a young boy, he and his family moved to Mississippi. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point University class of 1829. After graduating from West Point, he traveled back to Kentucky and also attended Transylvania University.
Some of Jefferson Davis’ accomplishments were that he along with several southern states, wanted to secede from the Union. Eventually, the several southern states and Jefferson succeeded. He was also the President of the Confederate States of America which was the South. Jefferson was best remembered as the 1st and only President of the Confederate States of America. This man also held that each state had the right to secede from the Union if they wanted to; Some states agreed to this.
Slavery was right in the eyes of Jefferson Davis. “The condition of slavery with us is, in a word, Mr.President, nothing but the form of civil government instituted for a class of people not fit to govern themselves.” said Davis on another thought about slavery (Deo Vindice).
