Jennifer Niven is an author who was born on the 14 May 1968 in Charlotte North Carolina. Some of her most popular novels are, all the bright places and holding up the universe. Ever since Jennifer was a child she had always been writing, she would write stories where she was the main character, she would also write songs and poems. Jennifer had also written a novel about vietnam but never finished it because of unknown reasons. In 2000 Jennifer started to write full time and since then she hasn't stopped writing, She has written nine books in total and says she has not started writing the tenth. The time that the story is set over shows you how Theodore and Violet have developed their friendship over the course of the novel and how they have made an impact on each other. The main events of the novel happen all around the state of Indiana, the couple are set on a task to find tourist attractions around the state to present back the geography class at the end of the semester. The setting plays a big role in the story because it is what the two use to get to know each other and to get over their fears. Some things that play a big part in the story are Theodore’s problem with depression and suicidal thoughts where he almost jumped off the school bell tower, and Violet trying to overcome the death of her older sister. The setting plays a more active role because it is how the characters overcome their fears and learn more about each other to gain a better relationship with each other. The author uses imagery very well throughout the movie to paint a mental picture in your mind so you can almost see what the characters are
