Jewish Religion The Jewish Religion is Judaism. Judaism is a monotheistic religion. If you are a monotheistic religion it means that the religion only believes in one God. Jewish people believe in one God, Yahweh. Judaism is the oldest monotheistic religion of the world’s three great monotheistic religions. The Jewish people praise Yahweh by study, prayer, and The Torah. There are three groups of documents connected with Judaism. They are the Law, the Prophets, and the Writings. These three groups are known as the sacred scriptures of Judaism. The Old Testament on the Christian Bible is formed by these scriptures. Jewish people have a set of rules from Yahweh. One holiday is The High Holy Days. The High Holy Days are a time of prayer and solemn introspection. Another holiday is the Jewish New Year. The Jewish New Year is also known as Rosh Hashana and is celebrated for the beginning of a new year. There are three major festivals of the Jewish religious year. Jewish people celebrate the rescue of the Jews in the days of Queen Esther. This holiday is known as Purim. On Holocaust Remembrance Day the Jewish honor the memory of the six million Jews who were murdered by Nazis during the Holocaust. Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday to celebrate the victory of the Maccabees and the re-dedication of the Temple in Jerusalem. It is similar to Christmas for Christians. Jerusalem is the “Land of Promise” to the Jewish. Brit Milah is that all Jewish boys are circumcised on the eighth day after birth.
