In most cases, politicians who are elected to run the country have years of political experience behind them and their name is commonly heard in the political department. The general notion is that the prestigious position of a President should filled by someone well-trained, in order to succeed. The name of such person should be recognized, not cause confusion. However, in the case of Jimmy Carter, the one-time governor of Georgia, the situation was just that. Jimmy Carter, who struggled even at the beginning of his political career, run for President, and, surprising an important number of people, won. In this essay I will examine how his public image, combined with the time frame he run for President, assured him a spot in the White House. He was a symbol of the purity that the United States’ government had lost in the past years. He grew up in a small town called Plains. His father owned a peanut farm. Pure and hardworking. The small town stood for the lack of the big city’s social filth. Trying to live up to his father, he always did the best he could on the farm. He was the only one of his siblings to pursue a higher education, in order to fulfill his dream of joining the Navy. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1946 with a Bachelor of Science degree and joined the United States Navy, where he served on submarines. His hard work led to the fulfillment of his dream. Nevertheless, after his father death he returned to the farm, in order to save the family business. He was extremely religious. Every Sunday he would attend the town’s church. That, was Jimmy Carter. That were the values that he promoted in his campaign. He was moral, open, he swore he would never lie. He was everything that his predecessors were
