Man first began to experiment with inventions and innovations for the sake of survival of his tribe and himself, but man did not quite stop there; no, he exponentially explored as time marched forward accidentally creating and finding knowledge. Eventually though, man created machines specifically geared for efficiency in storing and retrieving knowledge like a human but far more accurate and efficient. However, there was a spark of potential in these machines and man was fascinated in seeing just how far these machines could be pushed to store and retrieve data, to execute simple commands that would replace ordinary human tasks like heating up leftovers, toasting toast, and washing dishes. Although his profession is heartfelt and emotional, his personal life is severe mess as he a depressed lonely in a midst of a divorce with his childhood sweetheart, abandoning even his close friend, Amy, who evidently is also having marital difficulties. Unsatisfied with life, Theodore goes out to buy a new computer operating system in order to set his life straight. Unbeknownst to Theodore, the operating system carries an AI that is able to learn and adapt rather quickly which in his case manifests in the female narrated operating system, Samantha voiced by Scarlett Johansson. Samantha does all she can to help Theodore through his divorce yet ends up love with him throughout the process, giving Theodore new found strength and Samantha the ability to feel human. Though Samantha proves too intelligent and rapidly evolves into a higher state of consciousness leaving Theodore and all users of the new operating system alone, but leaving Theodore specifically with a new sense of hope. The film was a sensational hit winning multiple awards and honors, but more importantly, it raises questions on the actuality of people falling in love in with artificial loves and the implications. According to a Stanford University report back in 2014, there is much progress being made in the way of self-driving cars, factory-working machines, interacting with people for entertainment purposes, and possible home cleaning robots but no actual signs for intelligence that can resemble closely a human.
