Vinny is afraid and weak. In the story, Vinny is afraid to go to the Ravine, because his mom said the Ravine was haunted (page 6, line 110). Vinny believed that the Ravine was haunted because the boy’s body was never found. It gave Vinny the creeps. Vinny is scared to find the dead boy’s body in the pond. Joe-Boy is mean to Vinny but (Joe-Boy) is Vinny’s best friend. (page 6 line 105) They may be friends but Joe-Boy is not mean in good way. But he teases Vinny in a bad way not in a nice way. (“But sometimes Joe-Boy teases Vinny in a friendly way”). When Joe-Boy’s girlfriend is not with them he teases Vinny in a good way. But when his girlfriend is with them that’s when Joe-Boy teases Vinny just to show off to his girlfriend. he teases Vinny about finding the body “while he is swimming or that the goddess will take him away”. And (“He is a bully because he wants to show off to his girlfriend”). He is brave to jump off the 50 foot ledge but “he does it man style to show off to his girlfriend”.
Even though they are very different, Vinny and Joe-Boy have a lot in common. They are both 15 years old and they like to swim all day long and have fun in the ravine. Both of them are (Hawaiian) and play all day they are also really active.
