Everything happens for a reason, cliché as it is, but true, whether you look at it through a faith based perspective or take it literally that an outcome will prevail through every decision we make. As humans we are filled with many unique qualities and emotions that define who we are. These often will guide us to make the many decisions we will face in a day. These may be big or small, immediate or gradual and we may choose left or right, but they each contribute to “destiny”, the ability to control what we want the outcome to be. Each one of us has our own control of what our future will become. Our destiny may not be the outcome we desire it to be, but we can always exceed our own expectations, do the best that we can and give life a punch in the jaw.

These forces can cloud your judgement and you have to decide whether to let them destroy you or help you. Even with so many negative forces pushing you and being very unforgiving, there is always a chance to overcome. Joel Embiid plays center for the Philadelphia 76ers. He was born in Cameroon, Africa, where many don’t believe they are destined to do great things. Joel didn’t start to play basketball until he was 15 years old. He was discovered at a training camp and was encouraged to move to the United States to learn more about the sport and become better at it. He later became one of the best players in the sport and enrolled into the University of Kansas which is one of the best places to play the game. He was eventually picked number 3 overall in the NBA draft (add how much he makes). Joel conquered the negativity and proved to many who told him he would never amount to anything.
