Imagine a world where half the population is illiterate, only the rich would have access to books, and no internet. This is what the world would be like today if there was no such person as Johannes Gutenberg, the person who invented a way to easily and quickly manufacture books by inventing the printing press. Johannes Gutenberg, full name Johann Gensfleisch Zur Laden Zum Gutenberg was born in 14th century, Mainz , Germany into a modest merchant family. He enjoyed reading manuscripts and block books his parents and wealthy friends had, and often said it was a pity that only rich people own books, and so determined to contrive some easy and quick way of printing that all could access. He learned most skills in metalwork, gem cutting, gold making, but the most in book making in Strasbourg, France and attended the University of Erfurt in Germany it is believed for arts and humanities. After that, he did a great deal of work in secret contriving the easy and quick way of printing. In 2017 the United Nations had come together in agreement to release a new global currency, which will be called the terra. However, as famous and influential people are put on currency, there is an controversy of who should be put on the terra. …show more content…
There are thousands of people who could be possibly picked for the new world currency, the terra, but there is only one person who deserves to be on the face of the currency, Johannes Gutenberg, because of three simple reasons, he was the “Best Renaissance Man”, he had an enormous impact on society, and that he has a lasting legacy that is carried on even
