Johannes Kepler came up with three laws about planetary motion. The first law states that all planets move around the Sun in an elliptical orbit. The second law is that a radius vector that connects any of the planets to the Sun sweeps out equal areas of equal amounts of time. Meaning if a planet is close to the Sun, the invisible line that connects it is shorter, it moves quicker, and sweeps over the same area as if the planet would be far away. Kepler's third law is that a planet's orbital squared is semi-proportional to the average distance from the Sun, when it is cubed.
