Johannes, Jan or Johan Vermeer, (1632 – December 1675) was a Dutch painter who specialized in domestic interior scenes of middle-class life. Vermeer worked with great care, and considerably used very expensive tinctures. He used light in his work a lot. In addition, Jan Vermeer made a name for himself from his wonderful and famous artwork. He paint the Girl with Pearl Earring, The Girl with the Wine Glass, The Milkmaid, View of Delft, The Music Lesson, and The Geographer. He was recognized during his lifetime in Delft and The Hague, but his modest celebrity gave way to obscurity after his death. He was barely mentioned in Arnold Houbraken's major source book on 17th-century Dutch painting (Grand Theatre of Dutch Painters and Women Artists), and was thus omitted from subsequent surveys of Dutch art for nearly two centuries. He paint a lot of wonderful painting like The Girl with Pearl Earring, this painting take the number 10 of the fames painting in the world, and a lot of painter asked about her earring if it was pearl or not.
