John C. Fremont was born in Savannah George on January 21, 1813. We was the son of John C. Frémon and Anne Whiting Pryor. He spent his childhood in Charleston South Carolina and eventually attended Charleston College. John had a love of science and used it in one form or another for the rest of his life. John did not graduate from college due to lack of attendance, leaving three months before graduation. John received a post as a teacher of math after he left college, but this did not satisfy his need to explore. He eventually led five expeditions into the West where he discovered new routes for railroads and developed maps to the territories he discovered.
