Mr. Grenhow didn’t know it, but John Canrow wasn’t actually a medical student. His name was Hoodin Calhuski (Cal-Hoo-Ski), and he was the owner of the lone tent that was still in the park. For ten years he had been looking for them, and when Alice showed up, he knew he had found them. Years and years of looking at them in pictures in all of his many books made him think very strange things.

With Mr. Grenhow being an observant person, he didn’t want to get caught. He found this out by using his “clear ball”, which was a wizardry trademark device used for learning information and telling fortunes. He went back to his tent with some useful information. If he were to carry out his plan, he would have to find a way to explain that Alice’s glasses had a problem with them, and that she would need a new pair. Then he would resign from his “job”, giving Mr. Grenhow a believable excuse, and if he got in his way he would have to deal with him quickly, so he could depart from Maplerose with the glasses as fast as possible. The thing he longed to understand, was if Mr. Grenhow knew that Alice had the Magnifiglasses, or even knew what they were. If he didn’t know what they were it would be even easier to take them, but if he did know what the glasses were and the powers they had, it would be a little tricky.
