In the year 1803, he wrote an article for the Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society, in this article was the first chart of atomic masses. Published in 1808, was a book called A New System of Chemical Philosophy? In his book, it proposes the idea that atoms of different elements could be identified based on their atomic mass. Also, within the book are experiments Dalton used to prove that atoms combine in simple rations every time. Along with his other atomic discoveries he also discovered the fact the atoms cannot be created or destroyed. As a result of his research, he was the first scientist to illustrate the properties of atoms in regards to atomic weight. Furthermore, Dalton’s theories investigated the compositions of compounds. Continuing with A New System of Chemical Philosophy, he published an appendix to it. In the appendix, John Dalton provided more detail to his atomic theories.
