Denver Broncos was born on June 28, 1960, in Port Angeles, Washington. A star football and baseball player at Granada Hills High School in Los Angeles, California, Elway chose to attend Stanford University even though his father, Jack, was the head football coach at San Jose State University. John had four great years at Stanford University, he threw for more than 9,000 yards and set five major NCAA Division I-A records during those four years at Stanford, finishing runner-up for the Heisman Trophy as a senior. John was drafted with the No. 1 pick in the 1983 NFL draft by the Baltimore Colts, but shortly afterward was traded to the Denver Broncos. Not only was John Elway incredible at football, but he also succeeded astoundingly at baseball. Elway played for a New York Yankee minor league team in 1982.
