According to John Fritch, “Discourse community’ is also often used to signal a focus on written rather than spoken texts, such as the writing of the academic discourse community or the reading of magazines by adolescents” (Fritch, 2017). It determines that a discourse community uses multiple means through they can communicate with it such as face to face communication as well as text through their phone. It is necessary to have multiple genre of communication within a discourse community which helps the members to remain in touch so that they can share the information and return feedback to each other (Swales, 1990).
