The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a very difficult situation to deal with because it’s a battle of constant arguments between both sides. Peacemakers (people who try to make peace between two sides) are trying their best to put an end to the conflict. John Kerry is the US Secretary of State, and is a peacemaker who is involved with many negotiations and meetings trying to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. John Kerry first started his term as US Secretary of State in 2013. Since then, he has been involved with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a peacemaker. He continued to have negotiations with the leaders of Israel and leaders of Palestinian territories to work out a solution, but none have been successful. Although the issue has not been resolved, there has been progression in the situation. Before the meetings, John Kerry warned Israel that they could face a third Palestinian uprising if peace talks failed. On November 7, 2013, he met with the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas in Amman, and the next day with the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem to negotiate a peace deal. When both sides disagreed to the agreement, Kerry still tried to keep them talking. On April 29, 2014 nine months after trying to discuss peace solutions, it eventually ended in failure when the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Hamas promised a new united government which was very controversial since the US and Israel view Hamas as a terrorist group. The Israelis and Palestinians continue to argue, and the tensions are high because Israel has said that their annexed land will remain under their control in any peace
