In the article “The Case Against Humanity” it talks about how we as humans have evolved from acting and living like cavemen to becoming smart and intellectual people. Throughout the article, there were many points brought to light by the author John Lanchester. One point he focused on was cereal taxes. When talking about cereal taxes he explains that grain was the easiest thing to tax. Whenever the tax man came that was the only thing that they could tax that would be ready. If the tax man were to find beets or potatoes he would then have to dig them all up and count each individual one so that they could put taxes on it. John Lanchester’s focus was also on technology and science. He goes to describe and explain how the technology of fire
