John Quincy Adams, son of John Adams and Abigail Smith Adams, was born in Braintree, Massachusetts on July 11. He would grow up too follow his father’s footsteps to become president. Adams was also a member of several political parties.
John Quincy Adams was the eldest son of the second president and successful lawyer, John Adams. He grew up during the revolutionary war, and was able too watch The Battle Of Bunker Hill from the top of Penn’s Hill, which was above his family farm. He joined his father in diplomatic missions in Europe, getting a wonderful education in private schools located in Paris, Leiden and Amsterdam. He attended Harvard College and graduated two years later, becoming a lawyer. At age 26, he was designated Minister of the Netherlands and then was promoted to the Berlin Legislation. Adams was elected into state senate in 1802. President James Madison then made him Minister of Russia in 1808 and in 1817 made him Secretary of State. Adams served in several political parties; he served as a senator, a diplomat, and a member of the House of Representatives.
John Quincy Adams ran for president in the Election of 1824, against Andrew Jackson, William H Crawford and Henry Clay. Since no candidates had the required majority electoral votes the election went into the hands of the House of Representatives. The decision was between the top 3 candidates therefore Henry Clay was dropped. Clay had supported Henry and threw in his support to the House of Representatives, which was known later as the “Corrupt Bargain”. Adams won the campaign and become the sixth president. He served as president of The United States from 1825 to 1829. His vice president was John C.
