If someone were to think about westerners movies, most people that know anything about them would think about John Wayne the actor.. He created the west as it is known through movies. Although he moved around alot with his parents as a child he was very smart academically and was a talented football player. He went to collage on a scholarship he got from playing football in highschool and of course played football in college. While in college he played work a job as a prop boy and started making connections with the directors and actors. Working with these directors and actors gave him connection and helped them to know who he was. He had a desire to work in the movie industry and was eager to start working and learning more about the acting industry. He was born in 1907 in the state of Iowa. He was the oldest child of his family. Later on he got a sister named Mary Morrison. His family never stayed in one place for too long while he was young. His family moved for his dad to try to find work and he would for a few years and then fail and need to find a new job. His family finally decided to settle down in Glendale, California after moving and changing schools several times. Here in Glendale John Wayne the actor, or at this time of his life still known as his birth name Marion Morris earned his nickname The Duke. After being settled in Glendale for a while his father Clyde Morrison and mother Mary Morrison got a divorce and split. Even though he had lived with both of them his whole life till now he stuck close with his father and started pulling away from his mother. Even though he moved numerous times he still managed to excelled and did very well in his studies at school. He also participated in many different activities at school, such as theater and sports. Theater is where he discovered his love for acting and began to learn about it. As he was getting started his first job in acting was being a prop man. During his first job he got payed only 35 dollars per week. The very first time he got a leading role in a movie the movie turned out to be a dud in the box office. After this for almost a decade he played in B-rated movies and it seemed like he's never have a good leading role in a movie. It was a rough start, but he made many connections and began to get help form the industry. Even though these years were difficult and unpleasant for him as a actor he kept his good core and he refused to give up on his dreams. The men who helped him a tremendous amount in the beginning of his acting career was Cooper, Winster, and Louis L’amour.
