He believed that God would give them safety, if God thinks that they deserve it. He also said, "In all times some must be rich some poore, some highe and eminent in power and dignitie; others meane and in subjection". John Winthrop believed that people are different, and that no one can be the same. “The greatest outrage to Winthrop by far, however, came when Anne Hutchinson, a mere woman, gained control of his Boston church in 1636 and endeavoured to convert the whole colony to a religious position that Winthrop considered blasphemous.” -https://www.britannica.com Winthrop was the one who led the counterattack against Anne Huctinson. He was a very powerful man, owning a lot of land besides being the governor. He owned the Ten Hills Farm, the land that became the town of Billerica, Governors Island in Boston Harbor (now the site of Logan International Airport), and Prudence Island in Narragansett Bay. On April 8th 1630, Winthrop left the Isle of Wight on the Arbella. Arbella means ‘prayerful’. “The ship is said to have carried three times as much alcohol as water. The charter recorded around 10,000 gallons of wine on board for the personal supply of the crew and its passengers, and they had consumed almost all of it in six weeks time.”
