Johnny did not have a job any more so he spend the late summer and early fall of 1773 searching for a job that he can do with his bad hand one day he walks in to the office of the Boston Observer newspaper, he meets an older boy named Rab who offers him a job as a rider for the newspaper but he turns down the job

Lyte accuses Johnny of stealing the silver cup his mother gave to him. Later Rab fund him an excellent lawyer, and got Cilla to testify for Johnny and he was proved insistent
So He gave up on the Lytes Johnny took the job as a rider for the Boston observer. He left the Lapham’s house and, moved in to the newspaper office with Rab, and became involved in Tories. Politics he helped the sons of liberty who met secretly in the Boston Observer's attic. In December 1773, Johnny participated in the Boston Tea
