Jon Alterman’s, Are We Winning the Battle Against Terrorism concludes that terrorism is still an ongoing issue in the United States while Maybe We Are Actually Winning the War on Terror by Lincoln Mitchell argues that attacks have reduced and shouldn’t be the biggest concern of today. Terrorism is still an issue in America that should be taken into consideration and attempted to be controlled. Even though terrorism occurs often in our country, some say it has reduced and is not a complication. They say assaults have taken less lives compared to other events that take place in this country.
“It’s easier than ever for people with little training or expertise to wreak vast damage… In the 9/11 attacks, 19 people killed almost 3,000 people in an operation that cost less than $500,000 to pull off.” (Alterman) This means ordinary people could simply work together as a destructive group and cause pure chaos since it is much more simple.

This might be true, however Americans should not have to fear for their lives due to terrorists since we are one of the most advanced countries in the world and should be able to protect ourselves.
