Sometimes, our society believes that one group is superior to the others. This appears in the novel Amazing Grace through the research of Jonathan Kozol. The novel shows the perspective of the people in the South Bronx from the treatment of “richer” white people. White people seem to isolate black people because of their different skin complexion. This causes the two groups to think less or more of each other. Children in the city started to believe that they couldn’t have the same opportunities as other kids. Also, because the city is less fortunate, the belief of being kind diminishes from society. People only give because they feel like they have to instead of wanting to. The behavior exposed in the novel reflects society’s need to be accepted
