Through the use of extreme consequences, Joseph Strorm causes rebellion within the town. Joseph Strorm believes and follows the creed from the bible when making decisions. His actions and opinions influence the upbringing of his son David, in a negative manner. During David’s escape from the community, Michael sends a think thought that says,‘’This is a war between our kind and theirs. We didn’t start it- we’ve just as much right to exist as they have’’ (Wyndham 128). This quote demonstrates the impact of the telepathies rebellion: war between deviations and the norm. David, Rosalind and Petra are fleeing because many people have influenced them to believe that Mutants are not welcome in Waknuk: Joseph Strorm, Old Jacob, Inspector, and more.
