Joseph Walker was born on December 13,1798 in Tennessee. He had a brother named Joel. Joseph got his adventure side from Joel. Joel joined Colonel Browns riflemen, and that's why joseph got interested in adventure. Soon later in his life he moved to Missouri. In Missouri he traded with Santa Fe. He also became sheriff while he was there. He soon got into adventure. He took a group to Arizona. They were the first white men to cross Sierra Mountains. But that wasn't enough for him. So him and his group crossed the Continel divide on November 13, 1833, and headed to California. In California he became the first white man to find Yosemite Valley.
