Joshua was a significant figure in Biblical history. His story begins in the book of Exodus in the Old Testament of the Bible. Joshua was born in Egypt as a slave, he was the son of Nun.His journey was formulated around reflecting Moses’ passage of fulfilling God’s desires. Joshua’s commitment provided him with experiences to embrace God in close distance. Joshua followed Moses for forty years mastering his leader skills. After the death of Moses, God called upon Joshua to take over the commitments that Moses begin. ”The Lord challenged his new leader three times to be strong and courageous.” (Arnold & Beyer, 2008, p. 170-171) His loyalty lead him to be the first authentic general sense the Israelites were led out of Egypt by Moses. Joshua’s desire to fight for the Lord allowed him to prevail in his life. Joshua 1:6 states,” Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.” (New International Version) He successfully took over leading the Israelites to the Promise Land by crossing the Jordan River. His humble values of righteousness lead him through the spiritual warfare. Joshua led the people through a seven year conquest.
