Summarize your thoughts and reactions to the first day of class. What is one thing that surprised you about what your partner thought about you? What is one thing that did not surprise you? In your opinion, is a class in interpersonal relationships more important in 2014 or would it have been more important in 1914? Why?
What surprised me most was how accurate Tiffany was about guessing what my interests were. She had just about everything I had listed checked off on her partner form along with missing how old I was by one year. The thing that least surprised me was how open and willing she was to do the classroom assignment without showing any hesitation. Tiffany was able to display friendly and confident body language that helped me build up the courage to participate fully in the assignment and interact more with the entire class.
In my opinion, a class in interpersonal relationships is more important in 2014 than it would have been a hundred years ago. In this age of technology, human interaction seems to be nearly unnecessary for many tasks in everyday life. We have online banking, bill pay, texting, email, and social networking. Sometimes you don’t ever need to pick up the phone anymore to order something or even speak to a loved one.
I think that many people presently don’t have many necessary human interaction skills that are required and tend to avoid large gatherings or even going outside. I
